Wim Van den Boeck
European Patent Attorney
Wim entered the field of Intellectual Property in 2002 and is attorney at BIRD & GOËN since 2011. He is specialized in physics, green technologies, semiconductor processing, mechanics, optics, electronics, telecom and computer implemented inventions. He has a strong interest in US patent law.
Competence
He advises you on patent prosecution and opposition matters, IP portfolio management, and licensing strategies. His clients include private inventors, SME’s, as well as multinational companies.
Experience
He holds a Master in Physics (Great Distinction) from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium).
Wim worked at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, in collaboration with CERN (CH) (research), and has been co-author of more than 50 scientific publications. Later he worked for Alcatel Bell (research), IMEC (IP department) and a major Dutch patent law firm.
Wim accumulated experience from a wide variety of IP perspectives. He is an inventor, and has performed strategic research in standardization context. As an in-house IP counsel, he was involved in creating IP awareness, patent prosecution, IP portfolio management, licensing and spin-off creation activities.
He has developed insight in IP management at different company scales.
Wim has substantial expertise in written and oral proceedings before the EPO.
He is a member of EPI and AIPPI.
