Martin Rösch

Martin Rösch studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Karlsruhe with a theoretical focus on materials science, fluid flow engines and nuclear fusion technology. Martin is a European Patent Attorney.

Experience

He started his professional career at Siemens AG, where he supervised the design automation of network switches, experiencing deep insight into computer and communications technology. From 1991 onwards, in the department of Siemens AG, Martin Rösch supported for many years the corporate research unit for information and communication technology in the areas of intelligent autonomous systems, orientation technology, speech recognition, simulation and neural networks and was intensively active in the area of filing an prosecuting computer implemented inventions on an international level.

As from 2000, Martin was the IP manager at SONY Development Department for cell phones, based on the GSM standard. His main focus lay in accompanying the product development by invention management, particularly in the areas of communication and cellular phone networks in the software and hardware, baseband and RF, and human interface field. This activity embraced the evaluation of inventions, as well as product clearance, and exerting Sony’s IP rights against 3rd parties.

In 2001, he was promoted to the head of the German IPR department. With the formation of Sony Ericsson, his responsibilities included international decision making and evaluating all inventions across the group as well as the extensive support of over 300 inventors also according to the German law relating to inventions of employees.

At the end of 2003, Martin became a private practice European Patent Attorney, including representing a leading Japanese mobile service provider.

Martin joined BIRD GOËN in 2009.
